On December 3, National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visited Saudi Arabia to participate in the "One Water" summit, held as part of the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP-16).

During the visit, he performed a pilgrimage to the Kaaba in Mecca, reflecting the traditions of the Turkmen people. At the summit in Riyadh, Berdimuhamedov addressed global water issues, emphasizing equitable and sustainable water access, adherence to international law, and regional cooperation. Turkmenistan's initiatives, such as creating a UN Regional Water Council and projects like the "Golden Age Lake" in the Karakum Desert, highlight its commitment to resolving water-related challenges.

His proposals, including climate-resilient solutions and promoting water diplomacy, align with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. The summit demonstrated Turkmenistan's proactive role in addressing global and regional environmental issues. Following the summit, Berdimuhamedov returned to Turkmenistan.
