The UN highly praised the efforts of Turkmenistan's leadership to eradicate statelessness

The delegation of Turkmenistan participated in the 75th session of the Executive Committee of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, which took place on October 14 in Geneva.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, in his welcoming speech, highly praised the efforts of Turkmenistan's leadership to eradicate statelessness.

The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, Vepa Hajiyev, speaking at the first panel session, noted that thanks to the initiatives of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the President of Turkmenistan, the campaign to completely eradicate statelessness was completed in the country on September 24.

The Chairman of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan, Amanmuhammet Sazakov, also spoke, emphasizing that more than 32,000 people were granted Turkmen citizenship, and over 5,000 received residence permits.
