President Serdar Berdimuhamedov accepted the credentials of the new Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat on Tuesday, writes TDH.
“In order to further develop and strengthen relations between our countries, I have appointed an honorary citizen of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Turkmenistan.
Her abilities give me confidence that she will successfully carry out the high mission entrusted to her in a manner that will earn your trust and my approval.
In this regard, I ask you to accept her with your usual favor and treat with confidence everything that she will report on my behalf, especially when she expresses my very high respect for Your Excellency and assurances of sincere friendship,” the text of the credentials says signed by the President of India Draupadi Murmu.
Congratulating Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat on her appointment to a responsible diplomatic post, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan and India have fruitful relations that go back centuries and are based on strong ties of friendship and the principles of mutual respect.
Turkmenistan and India are productively cooperating in the trade and economic sphere, including in such industries as the fuel, energy and transport sectors, agriculture, and textile industry. There are great opportunities and potential for building up mutually beneficial partnerships on a long-term basis, which primarily concerns energy and transport.
Particular attention was paid to the TAPI gas pipeline project. Its implementation will contribute to the development of the economies of the participating countries, the creation of new jobs, the construction of social and industrial infrastructure, and the attraction of large foreign investments.
The healthcare sector was also named as one of the current areas of bilateral cooperation, where effective ties have been established over the past years. A clear example here is the fruitful interaction with Indian companies in the pharmaceutical industry.
The important role of humanitarian contacts in strengthening Turkmen-Indian ties was also noted. In particular, Turkmen youth receive education in Indian universities, and the Hindi language is taught at the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Bhagat thanked President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the warm welcome and assured of her commitment to further strengthening friendly relations between the countries.
