Turkmenistan announced new initiatives during the 'Cities of the Future' mayors summit

During the 'Cities of the Future' mayors' summit, which took place in Geneva from September 30 to October 1, organized by the UNECE, the Turkmen delegation proposed initiating an international dialogue on two key issues: water resource management and urban youth development.

Specifically, the Turkmen speaker, Hakim of Avaza district, Dovlet Jumayev, proposed creating a new legal instrument for water resource management under the auspices of the UNECE and organizing an international youth meeting in the smart city of Arkadag. This was reported on the website of the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva.

Additionally, D. Jumayev, in his speech, highlighted the country's achievements in sustainable urban development, successful projects, and emphasized Turkmenistan's role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Turkmen speaker spoke about the 'smart city' project Arkadag and presented the national tourist zone "Avaza".
