On Friday, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an expanded Cabinet of Ministers meeting via a digital system, during which Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Orazdurdiyeva reported on the ongoing efforts to prepare Turkmenistan's national teams for the 34th Summer Olympics and 18th Summer Paralympic Games, set to be held in Los Angeles, USA, in 2028.
It was noted that in this era of the Revival of the New Epoch of a Powerful State, vast opportunities are being created for the development of the Olympic movement and various sports in the country.
In line with the goals of preparing national athletes for these global competitions, enhancing their skills, and creating the necessary conditions for achieving high results, the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan has proposed creating an Organizing Committee. This committee would develop a comprehensive training program for national teams, organize athlete training camps at the Olympic Village in Ashgabat and the sports complex in the National Tourist Zone of Avaza.
Based on this, the Deputy Prime Minister requested that the proposal be considered.
Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the development of physical culture and sports to a global standard and the successful participation of Turkmen athletes in major international competitions are priorities of state policy.
In this regard, the President stressed the importance of taking immediate steps to prepare Turkmen athletes for the upcoming Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028 and instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to continue working in this direction.
