The Central Bank of Turkmenistan has introduced a new 200 manat banknote into circulation

On December 1, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan introduced a new polymer 200 manat banknote, as well as modified 1, 5, and 10 manat notes. This was reported by the news program "Watan," citing a press release from the country's main bank.

The innovation is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. According to the Central Bank's press release, the main advantages of the new banknotes are their low counterfeit risk and high resistance to external influences, including dirt, wear, and damage. Security features have been enhanced, and visual indicators of authenticity have been improved.

The color and design of the modified 1, 5, and 10 manat banknotes remain largely unchanged. They now feature the emblem of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

The front of the new 200-manat banknote features an image of the “Arkadag” Monument, while the back features the Arkadag City Hall. All banknotes put into circulation include the year of issue and a facsimile signature of the Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.

The new banknotes are mandatory for acceptance at face value by all businesses, organizations, and institutions in Turkmenistan, regardless of ownership or industry, for all types of payments. However, the Central Bank's 2009, 2012, 2014, 2017, and 2020 banknotes remain legal tender in the country.
