Turkmenistan's 2026 state budget has been approved with revenues and expenditures totaling 131 billion 845,1 million manats. The first-tier budget will amount to 36 billion 500 million manats, according to the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.
The country's centralized budget for the coming year is set at 119 billion 703,3 million manats, including the first-level budget in the amount of 24 billion 358,2 million manats.
To ensure regional budget balance, 3 billion 379,2 million manat will be allocated from the central budget. The main recipients will be Dashoguz velayat (1 billion 911,3 million manat), Lebap velayat (1 billion 211 million manat), and the city of Arkadag (256,9 million manat).
Local budgets have been approved totaling 15 billion 521 million manat. The largest regional budgets will be received by Lebap velayat (3 billion 125,6 million manat), Mary velayat (2 billion 987,9 million manat), and Dashoguz velayat (2 billion 808,7 million manat). The budget for the capital, Ashgabat, will be 2 billion 742,8 million manat.
Protected budget expenditure items include wages, pensions, state benefits, and stipends. In the event of a deficit, funding will be provided from government borrowing and budget balances.
Additional revenues received by the budget will be used, as a matter of priority, to repay bank loans and finance sustainable socio-economic development.
