Turkmenistan and Astrakhan strengthen ties in humanitarian and economic spheres

During the meeting between the Minister of External Relations of the Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Golovkov, and the Consul of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan, Gadam Ilamanov, prospective bilateral cooperation projects were discussed, including the opening of a direct flight route from Ashgabat to Astrakhan to Kazan and the creation of a Turkmen logistics center in the Astrakhan port special economic zone.

The meeting addressed current issues of trade-economic and humanitarian cooperation between the region and Turkmenistan. Special attention was given to preparations for the 2025 Business Forum "Astrakhan Region – Turkmenistan: New Horizons of Trade-Economic Cooperation."

Vladimir Golovkov noted that the recent visit of the Astrakhan delegation to Ashgabat, led by Vice-Governor Denis Afanasyev, demonstrated Turkmenistan's interest in developing partnership relations with the region.

In the humanitarian sphere, cooperation between educational institutions was discussed, as well as the outcomes of events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a prospective cooperation plan, including the participation of Turkmen delegations in international events in the Astrakhan region in 2025.
