A meeting was held between the Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, M. Chakiyev, and the Deputy Minister of Communications of Iran, Behzad Akbari, who is also the Director of the 'Infrastructure Communications' company, during his visit to Ashgabat. The head of the 'Turkmenaragatnashyk' Agency, H. Hudaygulyyev, also participated.

According to Iranian media, the meeting discussed the progress in developing digital infrastructure in Iran, opportunities for cooperation, including expanding transport links between Turkmenistan and Iran.

It was noted that both countries could play a significant role in the development of digital infrastructure in the region due to their favorable geographical location. The parties agreed to work together on these issues.

On behalf of Iran's Minister of Communications, Seyed Sattar Hashemi, Behzad Akbari invited the heads of Turkmenistan's telecommunications sector to participate in the International Telecommunication Exhibition to be held in Tehran from January 3-6, 2025.
