The Department of Foreign Policy Information and Digital Diplomacy began operating within the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on August 1. The new unit is designed to increase the effectiveness of the country's representation in the international arena through modern information and communication tools and methods of public diplomacy, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
Within the framework of the development of the information direction of the Foreign Ministry, it is planned to introduce the position of press attaché in a number of Turkmen embassies abroad. It is also planned to establish interaction with the UN Department of Global Communications and conclude cooperation agreements with specialized foreign publications.
Particular attention is paid to the digitalization of the diplomatic service. According to information from Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, voiced during a government meeting, the country plans to create a special “Digital Integration” zone to centralize work in the digital system with the involvement of young specialists.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the presented initiatives, emphasizing the importance of improving information support for the country's foreign policy activities using modern communication methods.
