During the opening ceremony of the international film festival 'Gorkut ata' in Ashgabat, a symbolic handover to the next organizer of the festival took place, reports TDH.

Turkmenistan will pass the 'Crane' statuette, the traditional symbol of continuity of the Turkic peoples' film forum, to Kazakhstan.

At the opening ceremony, a young man in Turkmen national costume brought the festival's transitional symbol, the 'Crane' statuette, onto the stage, which this year will be handed over to the Kazakh side. It is worth noting that Turkmenistan received this statuette last year at the III Turkic World Film Festival.

This year's festival is being held in Ashgabat in connection with the ancient Turkmen city of Anau being named the cultural capital of the Turkic world for 2024. Delegations from various Turkic states, including representatives from Kazakhstan, who, along with other honored guests, walked the traditional red carpet during the opening ceremony, are participating in the event.

The 'Gorkut ata' film festival aims to strengthen cooperation between Turkic states in the field of cinematography and promote the cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples on the international stage.
