Turkmenistan intends to modernize its railway system, including its electrification. This was announced at the latest meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country, where plans for the development of the transport sector were discussed, reports TDH.
Mamedhan Chakiyev, General Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers, presented a report on the work to improve railway transport. According to his report, measures are being implemented to modernize the industry within the framework of the 'Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the socio-economic development of the country in 2022–2028.'
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of modernizing the railway system, its electrification, and the training of specialists. He also noted the need to introduce international experience in this area.
The head of state approved the proposal aimed at improving the work of the railway industry at the international level and instructed the head of the Agency to carry out the relevant work.
