On October 16, a meeting was held in Islamabad between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, a wide range of issues regarding Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation was discussed during the meeting.

The further development of economic partnership was recognized as one of the key vectors, as there is significant potential for increasing trade volumes and diversifying mutually beneficial ties.

The parties noted that great importance is attached to the activation of productive partnerships in areas such as energy and transport. In this context, the importance of strengthening joint activities in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line was emphasized.

Special attention was paid to completing the work on preparing bilateral documents aimed at implementing joint projects in the fields of energy and transport.

Asif Ali Zardari expressed his respect and gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for their personal contribution to the development of friendship and brotherly relations between Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
