On the morning of September 23, representatives who will take part in the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan laid flowers at the monument to Magtumguly Pragy in the cultural and park complex of Ashgabat. This event was timed to coincide with the 33rd anniversary of the country's independence, TDH reports.
The monument to Magtumguly Pragy, majestically rising in the rays of the morning sun, became a gathering place for the participants of the event to honor the memory of the great Turkmen classic. Pragy left behind a rich creative heritage filled with wisdom and warm feelings.
The works of the outstanding poet and thinker of the East have been translated into dozens of languages and have become the property of the international literary and scientific community. This year, the motto of which is "The Treasure of Magtumguly Pragy's Mind", celebrations in honor of the great son of the Turkmen people are being held throughout the country and abroad.
In October, Ashgabat will host an International Forum on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Pragy's birth, entitled "The Interconnection of Times and Civilizations - the Basis of Peace and Development." The square in front of the monument was covered with a fragrant carpet of bright flowers, reflecting sincere feelings of respect and love for the great poet, the source notes.
