As part of the participation of the Turkmen delegation in the 68th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Bashimova spoke at the plenary session of this session. She noted that all the efforts made by Turkmenistan demonstrate a desire to strengthen cooperation with the IAEA in promising areas. On September 18, the Turkmen delegation met with the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi. The parties paid special attention to the peaceful use of atomic energy in areas such as medicine, agriculture, environmental protection, and water resource management. Among the most important areas, cooperation in the field of medicine, particularly in the fight against cancer, was highlighted. In this regard, the IAEA ImPACT program being implemented in Turkmenistan for monitoring joint actions was noted. Special attention was also paid to the development of the IAEA Framework Program for Cooperation with Turkmenistan.

As part of the visit, M. Bashimova also met with the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Robert Floyd. The parties noted the importance of the entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty and emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan's policy of permanent neutrality aimed at maintaining peace and stability. Prospects for cooperation were also discussed, such as raising awareness among youth about the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, training personnel, involving national experts in seminars and training organized by the CTBTO, and providing technical support.
