The public organization 'Ýaş tebigatçy' ('Young Naturalist') and the Ozone Center at the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan are organizing a contest for children's creative works and methodological materials 'What can I do to protect the ozone layer.'
International Ozone Layer Protection Day is celebrated on September 16. It was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1994 in a special resolution. The date of the International Day was chosen in memory of the day the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed.
The contest is held to disseminate ecological information and increase literacy in the field of ozone layer protection and Earth's climate among students of educational institutions in the country.
Participants of the contest can be students of general and additional education institutions in Turkmenistan aged 7-18 years (grades 1-12) who are interested in the problem of ozone layer protection and the anthropogenic impact on Earth's climate.
Individual works for participation are accepted until September 20, 2024. Works are submitted to the office of 'Ýaş tebigatçy' at: Azadi Street, 61, second floor. Tel: +993(64) 26 84 32, 94-03-26. The results of the contest and the awarding of materials will take place on September 25, 2024.
