Turkmenistan has made great strides in protecting the health of women and children

Turkmenistan has made great strides in its healthcare system, in particular, successfully implementing the experience accumulated in world medicine to protect the health of women and children.

The Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, created on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, is doing a great job of protecting the health of the younger generation. At the expense of the organization, children's departments of regional and city hospitals in the country received new ambulances, Dialog+ hemodialysis machines and other modern equipment.

Significant progress in this area was facilitated by the adoption of the National Strategy "Healthy Mother - Healthy Child - Healthy Future" in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025 and the Action Plan within the framework of its implementation. The document is aimed at preventing women's and children's diseases and improving living conditions in the family.

The National Strategy has improved the quality of free medical care and services, the study and analysis of the health status of various groups of the population, including low-income families, people with disabilities and those in need of social protection. Children with developmental disabilities were provided with medical care in accordance with the established procedure, and women's and children's medical institutions were checked for staffing with doctors, mid-level and junior medical personnel.

The country's hospital centers have created all the conditions for early detection and effective treatment of child developmental disorders. Newborns and mothers are under the watchful eye of neurologists, speech therapists, audiologists, orthopedists, psychologists and ophthalmologists. Ultrasound examination of the child's hearing is carried out from the first days of life. If deviations are suspected, special tests and treatment methods are prescribed. This work helps prevent birth defects and ensure the healthy development of the child.

This activity is fully consistent with the "Global Strategy for Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health 2016-2030" put forward by the World Health Organization, and covers all stages of the life cycle, including the reproductive health and nutrition of women, obstetrics and perinatal care, early childhood development and medical care for minors, the source notes.
