The Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Ukraine presented the Magtymguly Library in Kiyev with collections of poems by the Turkmen classic, whose 300th anniversary is celebrated this year at the international level, published in different languages.

Ambassador Toyly Atayev visited today, August 5, the library, which has been named after Magtymguly for over 50 years, and met with the director Elena Zubar and the staff of the institution.

The library has a Magtymguly museum room. Here you can truly feel the connection with the great poet and his deep philosophical world, with the history and culture of the Turkmen people, because the museum widely presents unique examples of the cultural heritage of the Turkmen people, some of which came from the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and were transferred to the museum in the anniversary year.

The library has a lot of literature about the outstanding Pragy and his work. Following the good tradition of donating books, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan donated new literature to the library's book collection. These are the works of Magtumguly Pragy in Ukrainian, English, German, French, Japanese, Romanian and Tajik, which were collected from Turkmen diplomatic missions abroad specifically for the Kiyev library.

A valuable publication was a book of selected poems in English, prepared by the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtumguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan for the 300th anniversary of the poet and published in Ashgabat in 2024.

A special pride is the complete collection of translations of Pragy's poetry into Ukrainian. The presentation of this book took place in May of this year, but the publication has already become very popular among poetry lovers.

A copy of a collection of poems and verses by the outstanding Ukrainian poet and writer Taras Shevchenko in the Turkmen language was also given to the library.

In May of this year, the opening of the Magtumguly Pragy monument and the cultural and park complex named after him took place in Ashgabat, on the alleys of which monuments to world-famous classical poets from different countries were installed, including the Ukrainian philosopher Grigory Skovoroda.

On this occasion, the Embassy prepared artistic photographs for the library, which depict the Magtumguly Pragy monument and the Grigory Skovoroda monument, as well as the sights of Turkmenistan, its historical and cultural monuments.

Elena Zubar expressed sincere gratitude for the gifts to the library and appreciation to the Embassy for its constant attention, replenishment of the library and its museum with new literature and interesting exhibits.
