The Joint meeting of the 59th Council of Heads of Communication Administrations of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) and the 29th meeting of the coordination council of the CIS member states on informatisation under the RCC were held at the Archabil Hotel in Ashgabat on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Agency Turkmenaragatnashyk, Hudaygulyev Hajymyrat, Minister of Communications and Informatisation of the Republic of Belarus Shulgan Konstantin, General Director of the Executive RCC Nurudin Mukhitdinov, representatives of communications administrations of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Uzbekistan. Representatives of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC), the head of the ITU Regional Office for the CIS countries, representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee, the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the companies Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Viasat, Inc., and Caspion Construction and Procurement.
The joint meeting discussed current matters of cooperation in the field of communications and informatisation, including the status and prospects of regional and international cooperation within the RCC, promising directions of digital development of the RCC member countries, implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, preparations for the World Radiocommunication Conference and the Radiocommunication Assembly 2023, outcomes of the 2023 Council sessions and working group meetings.
In addition, the participants discussed the work of the RCC communications administrations at the 4th extraordinary UPU Congress, the implementation of UPU decisions and postal strategies, cooperation in building and developing the information society between CIS member states, strengthening cooperation between CIS sectoral committees on digital transformation aspects, as well as the election of the General Director of the RCC Executive Committee.
The Council of Heads of Communications Administrations of the RCC, functioning as the highest governing body of the organisation, holds annual meetings to engage in discussions and reach consensus on key areas of work. During these meetings, agreed decisions are made to address the organisation's primary focus areas.
