On July 30, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).
Warmly welcoming the guest to the ancient and hospitable Turkmen land, the head of state expressed confidence that the meetings during the current visit will contribute to strengthening the cooperation established over the years between Turkmenistan and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization.
Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, the head of the largest international organization highly appreciated the balanced foreign policy of our country, which, having the status of permanent positive neutrality, makes a significant contribution to the common efforts to ensure peace and universal security.
Taking the opportunity, the guest conveyed warm greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, the initiator and inspirer of the peace-loving policy that has earned Turkmenistan high international authority, as well as wishes for happiness, prosperity and new successes on the chosen path to all Turkmen citizens.
During the subsequent conversation, which took place in a businesslike, constructive manner, the current state and prospects for the development of traditional partnership that meets common interests were discussed.
As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, adhering to the principles of positive neutrality recognized by the world community, Turkmenistan is constantly expanding relations with all interested states and authoritative international structures.
In this regard, it was emphasized that the development of comprehensive strategic cooperation with major international organizations, including the UN and its structural divisions, is one of the priority areas of our country's foreign policy.
- Turkmenistan fully supports the initiatives of the international community to ensure peace, security and sustainable development under the auspices of the UN. Our country is in favor of disarmament, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and ensuring universal nuclear safety, - said the head of state.
During the conversation, it was noted that Turkmenistan, being a party to a number of important treaties - "On the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons", "On the Ban of Nuclear Weapons Tests", "On a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia", steadily fulfills its obligations.
Touching upon issues of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, the interlocutors noted the productive nature of the established cooperation in the field of seismology and monitoring.
“We are committed to ensuring peace and global security on the planet and are ready to provide comprehensive support in developing cooperation with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization,” President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized at the end of the meeting, wishing CTBTO Executive Secretary Robert Floyd good health and success in his work.
