The most important area of international economic cooperation of Turkmenistan is partnership in the energy sector.
Based on the principles of diversification, which serve as the foundation of the national energy policy, our country is actively developing close cooperation with other states and international organizations in the energy sector. This fact is confirmed by broad and multifaceted professional ties with leading global companies that show great interest in joint activities with Turkmen partners.
In this context, on July 29 of this year, regular meetings of the heads of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan with the management of ADNOC (United Arab Emirates) and Hyundai Engineerig Co. Ltd. (Republic of Korea) were held.
During the negotiations with the ADNOC delegation, headed by the company's Senior Vice President Mr. Abdullah Al Shamsi, a wide range of issues related to the implementation of the project for the development of the third stage of the Galkynysh field were discussed.
As is known, in 2022-2024, during the visits of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates, solid foundations were laid for cooperation between the two countries in the field of oil and gas. In particular, important documents were signed that defined specific areas and parameters of joint activities at the Galkynysh field. Currently, the process of implementing the reached bilateral agreements is in the active phase of its practical implementation. The parties are specifically considering the legal, commercial, investment, financial, technical and other components of the Galkynysh field development project. It should be noted that the implementation of such plans is directly related to the promotion of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. One of the features of the current stage of negotiations was the expression of readiness by ADNOC to work together with oil and gas companies from Kazakhstan. It should be noted that the Turkmen side has repeatedly expressed support for the participation of economic structures of neighboring states in the implementation of large-scale international gas projects of Turkmenistan.
Today, the heads of the State Concern "Turkmengas" held another round of consultations with the delegation of the South Korean company Hyundai Engineerig Co. Ltd. headed by its Senior Vice President Mr. Jung Song Yong, during which the parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the development of the fourth phase of the Galkynysh field.
Noting the high level of bilateral cooperation, the delegations paid special attention to the consideration of important aspects of the above-mentioned project, including issues of legal support and organization of work occupy a significant place.
The Korean partners stated that the opportunities opening up for Hyundai Engineerig in connection with its upcoming participation in the development of the Galkynysh field will, on the one hand, allow it to use the broad potential that the company has in implementing energy projects, and on the other hand, enrich its previously accumulated international experience with new knowledge and practices in the field of work in the gas industry. The need to implement the agreements reached during mutual visits at the highest state level in 2023-2024 was also emphasized. The parties agreed to continue regular meetings in accordance with previously agreed schedules.
The negotiations held today in the country's oil and gas complex in an atmosphere of friendship, openness and constructivism once again demonstrated the high degree of interest of foreign companies from various countries in working in the energy sector of Turkmenistan.
