President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey Yashar Guler.

The guest conveyed cordial greetings from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the head of Turkmenistan. It was emphasized that Turkey attaches special importance to the expansion of multifaceted partnership with Turkmenistan.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov returned warm greetings to the leader of the fraternal state, noting that the development and strengthening of strategic and long-term cooperation with the Republic of Turkey is an invariable priority on the agenda of Turkmenistan's foreign policy.

Emphasizing the importance of the working visit of the head of the defense department of the friendly country to Ashgabat, the head of state expressed confidence that the upcoming meetings and negotiations will give a new impetus to Turkmen-Turkish relations in this area.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects of a bilateral partnership with solid potential.

Currently, the Republic of Turkey is one of the major trade and economic partners of Turkmenistan and occupies one of the leading positions in foreign trade turnover. In this regard, the available opportunities for building fruitful ties were discussed.

The effective nature of bilateral cooperation in the defensive and military spheres was particularly noted. As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan steadily follows the principles of Military Doctrine, which is purely defensive in nature. All conditions are being created in the country to improve the combat skills of the personnel of the Armed Forces and other branches of the Armed Forces.

Turkmen defenders of the Fatherland participate in seminars held in the Republic of Turkey in order to improve professionalism and study advanced military techniques. There is also a systematic exchange of experience on the modernization of the material and technical equipment of the National Army and the introduction of new technologies. In this regard, the head of state and the guest discussed the possibilities of strengthening cooperation in this area.

According to TDH, today the Secretary of the State Security Council, the Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan met with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey.

The parties discussed issues of further development of relations in the field of defense between the two countries, in particular, the intensification of cooperation on digital technologies.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in the further development of the established cooperation.
