Turkmenistan was unanimously elected vice-chairman of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov reported this on June 7 at a government meeting.
Having received the information with satisfaction, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, addressing members of the Cabinet of Ministers and all compatriots, noted that on June 6 of this year the country was unanimously elected as Deputy Chairman of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. This is further evidence of broad support by the world community for the country’s foreign policy course, based on the status of neutrality.
Stressing that Turkmenistan will continue effective cooperation with the UN, the head of state cordially congratulated everyone on the significant event, TDH reports.
