Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the State of Qatar took place in Doha.
The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Akhmet Gurbanov, and the Qatari delegation was headed by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al–Muraihi.
During the consultations, an exchange of views took place on the current state of political, diplomatic, cultural and humanitarian relations between Turkmenistan and the State of Qatar. The parties particularly discussed issues of trade and economic relations, in the field of investment, tourism, energy and oil and gas industry. The importance of the Joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was highlighted.
The sides also touched upon the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The diplomats agreed to strengthen work on the development of effective partnership between Turkmenistan and the State of Qatar in a bilateral format. At the same time, the diplomats noted the importance of continuing mutual contacts and meetings at the highest and highest levels.
The consistency of cooperation in the field of multilateral diplomacy, including within the framework of the United Nations, was noted. The expansion of the contractual and legal framework of the partnership was also called a priority.
The promotion of cultural and humanitarian partnership, including holding Days of Cultures, joint exhibitions, cooperation in the fields of education and sports, was named among the promising areas.
Topical issues of the regional and international agenda were also discussed during the meeting.
