Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov put forward an initiative to develop an "Islamic Initiative for Peace, Mutual Understanding and Trust" during a speech at a meeting of the Russia— Islamic World Strategic Vision Group in Kazan, TDH reports.

This initiative is considered by Ashgabat as a set of approaches based on Islamic postulates of peace, goodness and justice, addressed to all peoples of the world, the head of the supreme body of people's power of Turkmenistan said.

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty stressed that Islamic countries can play a significant role in promoting peace and trust. He called for maximum assistance in de-escalating conflicts, bringing them into a negotiating channel and establishing a culture of consensus in international affairs.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people proposed to discuss the "Islamic Initiative" with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international structures and, after agreement, to put it forward as an official document at one of the sessions of the UN General Assembly.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the initiative will be open for all states to join. He expressed confidence that it would find a response from the world community, signaling the consolidated efforts of the Islamic Ummah to influence world processes and reach agreement.
