On October 6, the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov departed from Ashgabat for the city of Turkmenbashi in Balkan region.
At the National Tourist Zone «Awaza», the Hero-Arkadag warmly welcomed the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko, who had arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the international women's dialogue titled «The Role of Women in Maintaining Peace and Achieving Sustainable Development».
During the meeting held there, the Speaker of the Upper House of the Russian Parliament expressed sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and congratulated the National Leader of the Turkmen People on the large-scale international events taking place in this world-renowned tourist zone. Taking the opportunity, Valentina Matviyenko conveyed greetings and wishes for success and well-being from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Expressing appreciation for the kind words, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan conveyed his best wishes to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and thanked Valentina Matviyenko for accepting the invitation to the international events being held on the beautiful Caspian coast.
As noted during the meeting, relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation are currently developing harmoniously across various areas. Our countries are expanding their fruitful dialogue within the framework of the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and other international organizations.
Agreements reached during high-level meetings and negotiations are also being implemented on a mutually beneficial basis. As emphasized, bilateral relations are developing based on principles of strong friendship and mutual respect.
In this regard, the effective and friendly ties established at the state level are paving the way for taking Turkmen-Russian cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
The initiative to hold an international women's dialogue in Turkmenistan holds special significance: the forum serves as further evidence of the high regard in which women's contributions are held in Turkmenistan. In this context, the guest noted the significant contribution made by Oguljahan Atabayeva — the Vice President of Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov — to the organization of international events for women.
Political and economic relations between the two friendly nations are currently developing steadily, including through cooperation between ministries and agencies. Inter-parliamentary ties represent a key area of international cooperation, facilitating the exchange of experience and a constructive dialogue between legislative bodies.
As noted, the major events scheduled for tomorrow will serve as an effective platform for substantive discussions and will be significant occasions.
Emphasis was also placed on the fact that bilateral contacts in the fields of education and science have reached a qualitatively new level. Today, thousands of young citizens of Turkmenistan are studying at Russian universities.
In this regard, confidence was expressed that the large-scale international events taking place on the beautiful Caspian coast would provide a powerful impetus for the further development of productive relations. In particular, best wishes were extended for the success of the international women's dialogue titled «The Role of Women in Maintaining Peace and Achieving Sustainable Development». At the conclusion of the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko wished each other good health and continued success in their important state duties, and wished prosperity and well-being to the friendly peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia.
Following the meeting, the Hero-Arkadag proceeded to the International Airport of Turkmenbashi, from where he departed for Ashgabat.
Shortly thereafter, the aircraft of the Hero-Arkadag landed at the International Airport of Ashgabat.
