Under the scientific guidance of the National Directorate for the Protection, Study and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments in Turkmenistan, archaeological, research and restoration work is being successfully carried out at sites in all velayats of the country.

According to TDH, excavations at the Paryzdepe monument in the Geoktepe etrap revealed a unique kariz - an ancient water supply system confirming the use of this method of hydraulic engineering in the Akhal Velayat since ancient times. This topic is covered in detail in the book by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov "Anau - culture from the depths of millennia".

To publish the scientific data collected in recent years, pass them on to future generations and familiarize domestic and foreign specialists, specialized works "Antiquities of Turkmenistan", "Architectural heritage of Kunyaurgench", "Historical and cultural monuments of Ancient Merv", "Parthian fortresses of Nisa", "Traces of Centuries" were published. It is also planned to publish the "State Register of Historical and Cultural Monuments of Turkmenistan".

Within the framework of agreements with well-known scientific centers, joint archaeological expeditions will be continued. In particular, on the Gonur Depe monument there are Turkmen-Russian, on the Togolok 1 monument and in the Old Nisa fortress there are Turkmen–Italian, in the Dandanakan fortress there are Turkmen–American.
