German President expected on official visit to Turkmenistan

National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a telephone conversation invited German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan at any convenient time.

As reported by TDH, during the conversation, the parties expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation between the two countries. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of relations with Germany, the legal basis of which consists of about 100 bilateral documents.

The interlocutors also discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov identified the chemical industry, transport, agriculture, healthcare and the textile industry as priority areas. In addition, new areas of interaction were identified: "green" economy, renewable energy sources, water management and innovative technologies.

Special attention was paid to cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov recalled that a monument to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was opened in Ashgabat in 2024, which is a "symbol of respect for Germany and its culture." The National Leader of the Turkmen people also expressed hope for Steinmeier's participation in the international conference to be held on December 12 this year in Ashgabat at the level of heads of state, government and heads of international organizations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust.
