Construction workers have fully completed the laying of the first layer of asphalt on the Mary – Turkmenabat section of the high-speed Ashgabat – Turkmenabat highway, according to Turkmen media reports.

According to sources, the construction of the second layer of road pavement is nearing completion, while a significant portion of the highway already has the third layer of asphalt. At the same time, work continues on the installation of the central median strip.

As per construction standards, the first layer of asphalt is 10 centimeters thick, the second is 7 centimeters, and the third is 5 centimeters. Before asphalt is laid, the base is prepared in accordance with international norms, using four layers of geotextile and several types of special coatings.

The new highway will have three lanes in each direction, plus emergency lanes—eight lanes in total, with a total road width of 34.5 meters. Hundreds of units of modern construction equipment are being used to implement the project.
